4/30/2014

Mia ate biscuit and two servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she had two servings of baked beans, ate dinner roll, peas, and pineapple.

Riley and Mia played together a lot this morning.  Mia likes to stuff the largest purse full of toys (See in the picture how full it is!) just like Riley does.  I think Riley helped teach her the fine art of stockpiling toys!  You can also see the selection of toys Riley has lined up on the step behind them.  There are more toys on the rest of the step too.

And here they are sitting in the big box which they have previously filled with toys also.  They have cookies in their bowls and were shaking them.  Soon after this picture they started combing each other's hair with the play forks.

And here's a picture of the kids doing some sand table play this morning.  They had lots of fun with it and played for a long time.

At the lunch table we were talking about brothers and sisters and Nora held up her hands to indicate the size of her baby sister in Mommy's tummy.  The way she positioned her hands looked just like we do for the motions to "like a diamond in the sky..."  And that's exactly what Mia immediately started singing "Like a diamond in the sky...twinkle twinkle little star.." and it morphed right into "Baa baa black sheep..." then "Mary had a little lamb..." then "Winnie the pooh, winnie the pooh.." then "Good night baby..."  And Riley was keeping up with her and singing right along - loudly!!  And every time Mia would change songs Nora would laugh so hard.  It was so much fun watching them have such a good time!!

Yesterday afternoon Mia and Riley were at the fence talking to the school kids when they were walking by.  Which I thought was a great accomplishment for Riley; she's been known to stay back on the patio when strangers are anywhere nearby.  Maybe it helped that Mia was yelling at them when they were going by; "Hi Neighbor!!"  And there were several, so the girls were quite busy!  :)

4/29/2014

Mia ate a large serving of waffle and ate her hash browns for breakfast.  For lunch she ate beef & cheese quesadilla, carrots, and two servings of oranges.

Cooper and Mia were running around the room and Cooper tripped and fell!  Lauralea said, "Splat!" So he got up and then intentionally fell and waited for Lauralea to say "splat!"  Now Mia and Cooper had a new game to play.  When they got tired of running they both laid down on Mia's blankie.

I took this picture of Mia playing in the big box.  Riley was in the other side of the box playing too.  They'd stashed lots of toys in there and played for a long time.  She was playing with this little puppy and she was saying, "He's so cute, he's so cute!"

We played with the bath foam at art time and Cooper and Mia were having a blast with it.  At first they were sitting across the table from each other, but I let them sit side-by-side for a photo opportunity!  And they didn't fail me!  I took several pictures, but this one was my favorite when they started putting bath foam on each other!  Nora was quite appalled!  :)

We were in the middle of Story Time, but as soon as Riley saw Big Willy heading out to get his mail she jumped down and went to wave at him.  He wasn't looking this time so Mia and Riley pounded on the window to get his attention.  Then we read a book called "What do you Love?"  Riley started hugging us all and being so sweet.  Mia said, "I love you Riley!"

4/28/2014

Mia ate cheerios and banana for breakfast.  For lunch she ate cheese sandwich,  drank tomato soup, and ate apple pieces.

Like I've mentioned before Mia is usually the first one to arrive at Daycare and this morning she was here for at least 30 before anyone else.  So she made a bed and Lauralea covered her up.  When she got up to play she tucked a stuffed animal under her blanket.

Here's a picture of Cooper and Mia being buddies and playing in the legos drawer.  These two frequently play side-by-side like this.

She watched the workers trim hedges and mow grass in Big Willy's yard across the street.  Then another neighbor started mowing so we had lots of activity to watch.

We were reading Special Books and I was having them "fill in the blanks" to see what they remembered.  Mia does awesome with that game; she has a great memory and words or phrases frequently remind her of what she's seen or heard.  For example I asked about a particular book and she answered, "Ocean!"  (correct!)  This is a tiger _____ and she said, "shark!"  (correct!)  This is a sea _____ and she said, "lion!"  (correct!)  Those are the two I remember!!  I'd have to go get the book or wake up Mia to remember more!  :)

4/25/2014

Mia ate oatmeal and dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground beef, a large serving of elbow noodles topped with shredded cheese, ate peas, and three servings of applesauce.  Just as I was setting up for lunch Mia announced, "I'm not poopy anymore Gary!"  The way she worded it made me laugh!  I'm thinking; "How did you reverse that process Mia?"  (That's a frequent time of day for her to be poopy - which was the reason for the announcement - today she waited until just after lunch!)

Mia sneezed right in Riley's face, but this age group doesn't get how gross that actually is.  What did Riley do!?!  She said, "Are you ok Mia?"  LOL!

These next two pictures were taken yesterday afternoon.  The kids sat on the garage floor while I got the geo-climber down; I hang it from the ceiling during the winter.  (We have a tall ceiling in the garage!)  Cooper LOVED this climber and Mia seemed to share that sentiment too!

Cooper was letting himself drop to the ground from the top of the climber.  So Mia was trying it too, except she'd have one foot down and the other foot stuck in one of the narrow angles of the climber.  So basically she was doing the splits every time!  And she lost a shoe almost every time!  She asked Cooper for help three or four times, "Help me Cooper!"  And he tried!  :)

The blue balance beam (in the picture) usually serves as a place to jump onto the mattress.  But it also can be a counter for serving food.  The primary menu items I heard being requested were "pizza, coffee, ice cream, and gum."  They frequently were switching roles and that meant Nora and Mia switched sides of the counter!

4/24/2014

Mia ate raisin english muffin and blueberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate turkey sandwich, green beans, and three servings of fresh plums.  Loves those plums!!

We were playing outside yesterday afternoon and Riley told me there was some water on the climber. There was a puddle left from the rain so I went to get the towel I leave on the patio and I told the kids to not get their mittens wet!  (Which usually is an encouragement to stick their mittens in!!)  When I got back I asked, "Did you get your mittens wet?"  Mia said, "No! I just drink it!!"  LOL  Riley said, "Her nose in the water!!"

I took this picture because Mia was laying on the block sidewalk and using her legs to scoot along the full length of it.  She was giggling and amusing herself.  :)

She enjoyed Story Time, singing, sign language, and the play dough at art time using cookie cutters, rollers, and pizza cutters.  I would occasionally ask them if they wanted me to flatten out their play dough to get a fresh start.  Mia would say, "Smash it Gary, smash it!!"  Silly girl!  :)  She doesn't suffer from a lack of enthusiasm!

All the kids were working on puzzles this morning, including Cooper.  And he's actually pretty good at it.  His temperament is such that he will work work work on finding the right spot and not get frustrated.  Maybe Mia is impressed too because at one point she said, "Help me Cooper!!"  :)

4/23/2014

Mia ate two servings of breakfast; jelly toast and mangoes.  When she asked for more toast she said, "Want more jelly!!"  LOL  For lunch she ate everything; beef & bean burrito, a large serving of sweet potatoes, and a large serving of tropical fruit.

Mia was yelling, "Help Gary, help!!"  I couldn't see anything wrong - she was just sitting on the window step with Nora and Riley.  So I asked, "What do you need?"  Mia answered, "Cooper - move back Cooper!!"  I guess he'd looked at her!  :)  At the time she yelled he was several feet away - not even close to her and Nora.  So I took this picture a few seconds later so you can get the idea!  Not a minute later, I turn around and he's sitting on Nora's lap! And Mia is perfectly satisfied with the turn of events.  :)  Very typical in the life of Toddlers!  It changes from moment to moment!

Mia loves the song "Baby Beluga" and she was thrilled when it came on this morning.  (There are probably 250 or more kid's songs on the iPod so it takes awhile to hear the same one again!)  She was yelling over and over again; "Baby Beluga, Gary, Baby Beluga!!"  And all the while I'm thinking, "It's going to be over before you are quiet and listening to it!!"  :)

Mia and Nora were waiting to get their hair fixed into ponytails and Mia was saying, "My hair pretty!!"  Nora said, "NO!!  In your eyes!!"  So I said, "Yes it's very pretty honey!  And you are right Nora, it's definitely in her eyes!"  LOL

We were doing some sign language this morning and we're learning a couple of new ones.  I did the sign for "cat" and asked them, "What's this?"  Mia remembered and kept saying, "Meow!"  (Which was a great answer, but I was just trying to get them to answer "cat.")  So I asked, "Well who says Meow?"  And Riley knew the answer to that question; "Cooper!!"  LOL

4/22/2014

Mia ate two servings of waffles and ate dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of her scrambled eggs, hash browns, and cheese combo; bites of waffles, and ate a large serving of cantaloupe.  At lunch time Nora kept asking Cooper, "You love Sissy, you love Sissy….?"  And he kept saying, "Yah, yah….!"  Then of course Mia started asking the same thing and got the same answer.  :)

Nora and Riley were having this long animated conversation about the "easter bunny."  Mia heard them and yelled "Chocolate!!"  And she continued to say just the one word three or four times: "Chocolate!"  I guess in Mia's world that's really all you need to know about the easter bunny!  :)

I took this picture yesterday afternoon when the girls were doing some very serious "face painting" in the play house on the patio.  At first I couldn't figure out what they were doing and Nora (with exasperation!) said, "I painting Riley's face! - Butterflies!"  :)  Her tone clearly asked, "Are you blind!?" Mia (on the right) helped paint Riley and Nora, but wasn't too interested in sitting still long enough to get her face painted!  :)

My daughter Christina was here for probably 20 minutes this morning and the kids were having fun running from her in the yard.  Mia, Riley, and Nora were all saying, "Get me Stina (Christina), get me!" and they were running hard.

Cooper and Mia were having a blast this morning running, jumping, rolling, and squealing like crazy kids.  He was mimicking a lot of what she was doing and she was loving that!  Then Nora and Riley joined them and Riley was yelling, "Hurry Mia, hurry Nora, Cooper coming, Cooper coming!!  :)

Monday, April 21, 2014

4/21/2014

Mia ate kix cereal and two servings of mixed fruit (today it was strawberries and blueberries) for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ham sandwich, peas, and three servings of mandarin oranges.

We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and Mia liked stuffing one of the bags full of toys.  I took this picture because the first bag she used was actually a 'chef hat' with the food toys.  She put it on her head later (after she'd discovered a 'real' bag) and it looked really cute.  In this picture she's also wearing a tutu.

Speaking of tutus the girls were spinning themselves until they were dizzy and silly. Mia spins just as fast as she can go (which is pretty fast!) and gets dizzy very quickly!

At the lunch table Mia pointed at Nora and started listing names; "Molly (Nora's Mom)….Darcy…Matt…Pat (Nora's Dad)!"  Then she moved on to Riley's family; "Jamie..Casey.."  Very good Mia!

Mia was building a nice tall block tower and for some reason Cooper decided to stack his claim on it! I don't know exactly what preceded this, but Mia would add a block to the top and Cooper would knock it off.  Mia tried again and Cooper knocked it off!  Ok Cooper let's move over here and find something different to do; maybe not as entertaining as that, but we'll try!  :)

4/18/2014

Mia ate half of her brown rice and ate raisins for breakfast.  For lunch she ate meat loaf, french bread, carrots, and three servings of apricots.  She loves those canned apricots!  Cooper was fussing in his highchair at the end of lunch (ready for nap time!) and Mia yells, "Nora make Cooper cry!!"  LOL  I'm not sure what Mia thought she did, but Nora couldn't even reach him.

Riley and Mia were running wildly about the mattress side of the room bouncing off the two big bears and the mattress.  Riley said, "Look at Mia's hair!!"  And it was pretty crazy with lots of static!  Then I took this picture when they were "hiding" under one of the bears.  You can see Mia's eyes peeking out from under the bear's head.

Mia was at the window yelling, "Hi Willy!" when our neighbor Big Willy was getting his mail.  He couldn't hear her, but he loves it when the kids wave at him and he always watches for them.

There's a song on our kid's music that is '"Nora's Song."  That's what we call it anyhow, but I'm not even sure what the real title is.  It's about a little girl that's feeling "blue" and he's trying to cheer her up. As soon as Mia heard it she yells, "Nora Blue!" which is a phrase that's frequently repeated in the song.

4/17/2014

Mia ate cinnamon toast and two servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of her chicken, a bite of dinner roll, ate hash browns, and cherries.

Mia sat on Lauralea's lap for at least 30 minutes while I was finishing up food prep for the day.  Lauralea was singing to her and before Lauralea would even finish a song Mia was saying, "another song!"

Nora covered Cooper up with a blanket and then left him and went to the window to have a look outside.  He was just laying with his head covered and making sounds, but not moving.  Mia grabbed a couple more blankets and continued to cover him up some more.  :)

The kids just recently discovered another way to play with some of the food toys.  The cheese and bologna will stick to the mirror!!  Just about every set of kids that have come through our Program have done this sooner or later!

For art time we did some sidewalk chalk.  Mia did it for awhile, but decided she liked making chalk marks on her pants much better!  I'm not sure who was copying who, but she and Nora were both chalking up their pants.

When we went outside this morning everyone was thrilled to see the neighbor's puppy at the fence.  Riley was yelling at it; "Come over here NOW doggie!!"  Mia and Nora were running up and down the fence squealing.  It's not hard to figure out why the dog gets all excited and starts barking.

4/16/2014

Mia ate two servings of breakfast; Whole wheat bagel and peaches.  For lunch she ate ham, a large serving of mac-n-cheese, half of her lettuce salad, and ate corn.

Here's a picture of Mia feeding Cooper the doll bottle.  I liked how he just had his back and head on the table bench and the bottom half of him is hanging off the edge.  :)  The picture was taken a little too close to see that part.  Anyhow, it didn't look too comfortable to me!

Riley, Cooper, and Mia were reading books on their own (loudly) and it turned into a competition.  Riley was singing, "Twinkle twinkle," Mia was singing, "Wheels on the bus" and reading "Ole ole ole O" and Cooper was chanting!  :)  All loud and at the same time.

I usually have a pen and notepad close by so I can takes notes to write this journal.  (And not have to try to remember everything!)  Mia asked me a question and then immediately answered it herself; (She's heard the answer once or twice!)  "What doing Gary - writing notes?!"  :)

They were playing with the masks and Mia said, "Big bad wolf" (from Three Little Pigs story) mask.  She also played with the keys and phones again in the toy box.  Riley said, "Mia in my car!"

4/15/2014

Mia ate two servings of waffles and ate pears for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of her tuna, ate crackers, sweet potatoes, and oranges.

This is another one of Cooper's favorite posters, but toady Riley and Mia joined him in examining it.  And this is exactly how Riley likes her bugs; in picture form only!!  :)

Not too much to write about this picture, other than the fact of how cute it is!!  They were snuggled up together playing with their food toys at the table.

We made our own Wildlife Poster at art time.  I've been cutting out some Montana animal pictures and we glued them on some poster board.  The girls were pressing all the pictures down on the paper.

Darcy, before you picked up Mia yesterday, she was pulling Cooper around in the wagon and she got stuck a couple of times.  I give them instructions how to figure it out and let them struggle a little bit rather than just immediately rescuing them.  Anyhow, I was changing her diaper and she was whimpering a bit and I asked her, "What's the matter?"  She said, "Wagon! - Gary's fault!!"  I said, "You're doing fine with it and you'll figure it all out."  She said, "Mommy's fault!"  LOL

This morning Nora was pulling the wagon outside and giving Mia a ride.  They switched and Mia started pulling.  She took off across the lawn and Nora freaked out!  Those wagons are to be driven on the sidewalk!! What is the matter with you Mia?!?  :)

4/14/2014

Mia ate most of her chex cereal and ate mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate roast beef sandwich, drank tomato soup, and ate apple pieces.

Mia always gives the standard answer when I ask what she did last night or weekend.  She says, "Mommy, Daddy, Tie Tie."  She paused for a few seconds this morning and added, "Julie Eddie!"

She did lots and lots of reading this morning; by herself, with Nora, and with Riley.  So I took a picture of her and Riley reading in the big box.

When this age group starts to get a little tired (which frequently happens on a Monday about 10:30 after a busy weekend) we do something different to have a little fun.  And it usually doesn't take too much; a different activity, art time, a slight change in the environment, etc.  This morning I stood the mattress on it's side and they like to chase around and around it.  I took this picture of them all flopping against it.

I said, "What's up?"  And Mia answered, "Giddy-up!!"  LOL  She repeated it three times and then said, "Giddy-up horsey!!"  I'm always telling Mommy Darcy that I think one of Mia's strengths is her interest in language and I see it in many ways.  A fun word game where she just says the first thing that comes to her mind, sign language, loves trying new words, and loves loves loves her books!

4/11/2014

Mia ate brown rice and raisins for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a large serving of hash brown casserole, bites of biscuit, and ate mandarin oranges.

I took this picture of the kids at breakfast after I realized what we were using for the 'centerpiece' on the table.  LOL  I guess it's pretty self-explanatory, but for those who don't know; everyone in the Daycare has a runny nose.  We're all about what's functional, not what may look good!!  :)

Mia was asking to work on puzzles after Nora and Riley wanted to do puzzles.  She did real well with them and stayed right on task for several minutes.

We did some finger painting today and part of the entertainment (for me anyhow) is seeing who has the most paint on them at the end; Cooper or Mia!?  It was pretty much a tie today, except Mia had some inside her mouth after sucking on her finger as soon as she stuck it in the paint.  :)

I don't think I've mentioned this lately, but Mia has been a very good helper during clean-up time.  I pretty much have her do the same job every day and that is picking up the books.  (Which actually works well because she is always the first one here in the morning and the one who empties the book rack everyday.)  As we all know she is a 'routine oriented little girl' and once she gets a routine down, she likes to do it over and over.  And she works hard at it and does it well.

Mia was here by herself for about 30 minutes this morning and was snuggled on my lap with her phone and baby.  She said, "Hi Mommy - I snuggle baby with Gary - I sit on Gary's lap - Bye Mommy, (then looking at me) that my Mommy!"  It was a cool conversation and she was telling Mommy exactly what she was doing.

4/10/2014

Mia ate french bread and three servings of cantaloupe for breakfast.  For lunch she ate turkey slice, three servings of crescent roll, ate green beans, and two servings of mangoes.  The crescent rolls were leftover "cinnamon-crescent rolls" I'd made and froze and Nora, Mia, and Cooper were loving them!

Ok, this first picture may seem kind of silly, but this is what the kids like to look at every morning!  This is the house across the street and their two dogs are on the back of the couch enjoying the morning sun!!  Nora yelled, "Two doggies!!"  So again we had to sing, "How much is that doggie in the window..?"

Riley and Mia had their babies and were doing a couple of our songs with them.  They started with "Row row row your boat" where we row back-n-forth and I guess the next one really isn't a song, but it goes,  "Rock rock"….then…"trot trot"….then…"gallopy gallopy"….

Warning, these next couple of events from this morning are slightly gross, but that's always a possibility when everyone is sneezing and having runny noses!  Mia sneezed (twice in quick sucsession) right in Riley's face and before I could say anything Riley very sweetly said, "Bless you Mia!!"  LOL  That's not really what I had in mind to say!

Then Riley asked for her nose to be wiped.  When I got to her with a tissue she had a bubble coming out of her nose about the size of a golfball.  Very impressive!  Everyone saw it and all of us (including Riley) started laughing.  :)

A song was playing; "Little Boy Blue…"  and I asked (kind of rhetorically, not expecting an answer), "Where is the boy who looks after the sheep?"  Nora and Mia both answered quickly and at the same time said, "Under the haystack!"  And Mia added, "Fast asleep!"  Well done!!

Wednesday, April 9, 2014

4/9/2014

Mia ate two servings of whole wheat toast and three servings of mixed berries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ham, crackers, two servings of bean & bacon soup, and three servings of plums.

We had a visitor today; Reid, the little boy on the right standing beside Cooper.  He was a baby in our Program (born within a week of Cooper) before Lauralea took the position at the University.  (You can see that he's about the same height as all the girls and probably weighs about the same as Mia.  He's a big boy!)

Here's a picture of Mia and Cooper having some fun.  He was peeking around both sides of the dress-up rack and they were laughing like crazy.  You can see her one ponytail is still sticking out; she just whipped to head back from looking at him.  Also, they like to clean all the clothes and shoes out of this spot and use it for a place to sit, or sometimes it is their "car."

Mia and Nora were discussing their Mommy's medical issues.  :)  And it went like this:
Mia:  "Mommy have to go to the Doctor!"
Nora:  "My Mommy too!"
Mia:  "My Mommy throat hurt!"
Nora:  "Ooooh!"

A few weeks ago I was helping Mia pronounce "music."  And now she really exaggerates the first syllable and it frequently comes out in two words like this; "Mew-music!  Mew-music!"  (With a strong emphasis on the "MEW!"  And she frequently says it when she wants me to turn on our music.  Nora was getting frustrated with hearing that and this morning she said, "NO!  Just Music!!"  LOL

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

4/8/2014

Mia ate three servings of whole wheat bagel and two servings of apricots for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, a large serving of elbow noodles topped with shredded cheese, ate peas, and two servings of applesauce.

I took this picture of the kids yesterday afternoon peeking through the fence trying to see the neighbor's dog.  This has been the daily routine when we go outside; the kids go to the fence, see the dog and start squealing.  Then they run up and down the fence with the dog and he starts barking.  The neighbors don't like him to bark so they come out and take the dog inside.  The following 10 minutes sound like this; "Where'd doggy go Gary, where'd doggy go!?!"  :)

This is one of the new posters we put up this weekend and, as you know, if there is a puppy involved Mia is all over that!!  She said, "Give puppy bath!"

After Cooper and Riley were done with lunch, Mia and Nora were still eating and arguing about who had ownership of Cooper.  "My Cooper!  No!  My Cooper!"  If Riley would have still been in the lunch room she would have quickly settled that discussion!  She always lets them know that "Cooper is my brother!!"  :)

Monday, April 7, 2014

4/7/2014

Mia ate two servings of bran cereal and ate dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a few bites of cheese pizza, ate corn, and tropical fruit.

We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend.  We also rearranged one side of the Daycare room and fixed the two big bears.  Both were torn on seams and I also gave Big Bear some more 'stuffing.'  The first thing Mia did was find the dolls and blankets in this set of toys.  :)  Sounds familiar, right?

Here's a picture of Mia and Nora playing on the arms of the chair.  And then they were basically sliding off head-first!  "Hey kids, the mattress is just over there with the balance beam beside it and that is a much softer landing!!"  :)  This is just a side note, but this chair is soooo old (belonged to Lauralea's Grandmother! - she would love knowing what we use it for!), but look how big the 'arms' are and it's so functional in the Daycare!  There is room for two kids on each side of me while I read stories.  I haven't found another chair with arms that wide.

I was sitting on this chair and when I stood up Riley sat down real quick.  So I sat on her lap and then I noticed us in the mirror!  So I took a picture and then Mia and Nora wanted to do it too of course.  So here's a picture of the mirror and me sitting on Mia's lap!  :)

I asked Mia to haul the books back to the reading area - she had piled them in the middle of the floor.  Nora said, "I help Mia!!"  And she was doing a good job of hauling books and then realized she was the only one working!  She said, "Come on Mia; Pick books!!"  :)  "That's right; Please help Nora with the books Mia!!"  And she did.  Speaking of books; Mia was reading the Jack and Jill story and was saying, "Jack fell down…broke his crown.."  She hasn't seen this book for 8 toy exchanges (16 weeks), so I am impressed.  The Jack and Jill story is in the Nursery Rhyme special book we read, but the pictures are totally different.

4/4/2014

Mia ate malt-o-meal cereal and two servings of raisins for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground beef, elbow noodles topped with shredded cheese, about half of her spinach salad, and ate mixed fruit.

Here's a picture of Mia in the Griz chair while I'm getting the lunch tray ready.  (I like how she has her feet together.)  We get lots of catalogs that are full of kid's stuff!!  And they like looking at the pictures.

Next week is the "Week of the Young Child."  Several Daycares and Preschools are passing this Mouse Costume around and Lauralea had it at ASUM today.  So she came here too and I read them a Mouse story and she did some of the actions.  The kids had fun watching her put on the costume.

Then when we were done reading she sat down so the kids could examine the mouse costume.  I thought this picture of Riley and Nora lifting the ears was pretty hilarious.

At art time we played in the bath foam and Mia had fun smearing it all over everywhere.  I told the kids if they wanted to play in the bath foam they needed to get their paint shirts on.  Mia raised her hand as if to say, "Count me in!!"  :)  It was really cute.  Of course the first thing she did was jam some in her mouth and said, "Yummy Riley!!"  Riley asked, "You like it!?!"  Mia replied, "YAH!!"  :)

I could smell something suspicious and I asked Mia, "Are you poopy?" - She always says YES when she is!  Except this morning she said, "NO!  I playing !"  :)  Silly girl.  She totally has the skills and ability to be totally potty - trained, but at this point she just doesn't care enough and that is just fine.  That will change sometime this year!!  :)

Thursday, April 3, 2014

4/3/2014

Mia ate whole wheat english muffin and three servings of blueberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, two servings of crackers, ate sweet potatoes, and three servings of cherries.  Hmmmm, lots of blueberries and cherries!  I'm sure something is going to happen sometime later today - Please wait until you get home Mia!!  :)  At lunch all three girls were being silly; squinting their eyes shut tight and saying (in a whiny voice), "I don't like that!"  And then laughing. That's pretty funny, I said, but I don't think you guys need to practice it!!  :)

The kids have really enjoyed playing with the airplanes and putting the little people in them.  I had to take a picture of Mia's airplane this morning because she was jamming it full of people.  I really liked the upside down one looking out the window.  At least the passenger got a window seat!!  :)

And another picture of Mia doing some jumping on the mattress.  They never get tired of playing on the mattress; it gets used every day!  And it's been especially nice during the cold winter days when it was too cold to go outside.  Love the flying hair Mia!

Nora and Mia were in the igloo playing their "Mommy and Baby" game.  One of them would stay in the igloo and be the baby.  When they first started their play Mia's distress yell sounded so real I went to the igloo to check!  :)

I mentioned yesterday that we learned two new signs; Mia was the only one who remembered the sign for "cat."  I did the sign and after a few seconds of waiting Mia said, "Meow!"  :)

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

4/2/2014

Mia ate a biscuit and three servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate two large servings of baked beans, ate dinner roll, two servings of peas, and ate pineapple.

Lauralea was fixing her lunch to take to work with her and Rileys said, "Want bite cheese."  So the kids were lined-up at the fence like little birdies getting their bites of cheese.  :)

We sang songs and Mia likes the new bumblebee puppet I got to use with the "Hickity Pickity" song. We also did our signs and learned a couple of new signs today; "cat" and "toilet" (or potty).  Mia knows all the signs we do and is very good at it.  (As she is with language in general.)

She was sitting on the step with her face in the shape-sorter bucket and I thought it was a cute picture.  As you can probably guess she's making sounds and listening to the echo.

She and Nora were playing with the dolls and playing "baby" and "mommy" with each other too.  Nora was the baby and kept saying, "I tired" and "Mommy Mia" was taking care of her.

I just remembered something those two girls were arguing about yesterday afternoon outside.  Nora came over to where I was sitting and was getting some loves.  Mia joined her and wanted some loves too.  Nora tried to push her away and said to Mia, "No bugging Gary!!"  Mia yelled at Nora; "No bugging Mia!!"  I tried not to laugh, but it was so funny.

4/1/2014

Mia ate two servings of breakfast; waffles and hash browns.  For lunch she ate half of her beef & cheese quesadilla, two servings of carrots, and two servings of oranges.

Mia had grabbed one of the pillows and headed to the box with it.  She was saying, "Gary's pillow!" and wanting me to "get" her.  :)  They all like to play with the pillows and use them for reading, laying on (like in the picture), and sometimes to jump on.

Mia also took the shaped sorter into the big box with her.  This is one of the favorites in this toy set for all four children.  Mia does these easily and quickly.

Well here's a picture of the kids having fun in the swivel-rocker chair that I moved into the Daycare room for them to do something different.  And here's the story behind Cooper running around in his diaper!  He had a huge poop this morning and needed a new set of clothes.  The kids were having fun going around and around in the chair so I had to take a picture first before putting new clothes on him.  Maybe five minutes later (after putting on different clothes) I saw his eyes starting to 'glaze-over.'  Oh Oh!! Time to stop spinning!  Too Late!  Out came all of his breakfast and he needed another new set of clothes!  :)  The girls watched everything happen and they were all saying, "Yukky!  Yukky!"  LOL.  So after I got Cooper and the chair all cleaned up I moved the chair out of the room!!

Riley and Mia built a block sidewalk from the mattress toward the big window.  They'd never built it in that direction and they were quite pleased with themselves.  Riley told me, "Mia and Riley did it!!"

We always pick up the inside toys before heading outside to play.  Mia was putting books in the book rack and she was thrilled because Cooper handed her a book.  "Cooper help me Gary!!"
